Pardon Our Mess…

Barrier For Safety
If you have ever stopped by in between auctions you will see that during those in-between days the show-room looks more like a storage room, and is not ready for visitors (or “company”, as my Grandma used to say).  This has occasionally frustrated those who would like to pop in and take a look around, but in our endeavor to offer superior service we allow access to preview items only on auction day.  This truly is for the benefit of offering both consignors and bidders a safe, secure, and organized experience when visiting Pot Of Gold. ~Cheryl

Most of our regular consigners and bidders know that we are only open for Auction Preview on the actual days that an auction occurs, that being the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, our fantastic Saturday Auctions, or our annual Gun & Military Auction held in December each year. Recently we have had some new folks stop by who wish to preview on other days. Unfortunately, we have had to turn them away and ask that they either return on an auction day or preview items on-line that have already been cataloged for an upcoming auction. Our reasons behind this policy are numerous but I would like to share a few of those with you.

The auction hall is our staging area. At any given time, other than auction day, the hall is often a maze of carts which block the aisles and walkways. Not only is it difficult to navigate, we have consigned items on carts, on tables, and sometimes we have boxes or artwork sitting on the floor.  Our consigners trust that the items they have left with us will be secure and protected right up until the time they go on the auction block. We cannot let anyone who wants to “just look around” back into that unsecure and yes sometimes hazardous area.

Let me give you a couple of examples. A consigner has just turned over 20 firearms that are going into auction. The guns are in the process of being inventoried and checked to ensure they are not loaded. Another consigner has entrusted us with silver coins or gold jewelry that will be going into an auction. Those items are lying on a table or cart until we get them secured properly.

A transformation occurs on the day prior to Auction. Setup is completed and all items are tagged, displayed, or securely stored in areas not open to the public. Our policies are not just for safety reasons but for security as well. So please, pardon our mess and respect the fact that we cannot allow preview at all times.

Thank You, The Pot of Gold Estate Auction Team
